Betis's revival under Luis Fernández continues, and they moved five points clear of the danger zone with a 0-1 win at Deportivo. The Galicians had not lost in 2007, and they had the better chances early on. Arizmendi brought a good save out of Doblas with a back-heel, De Guzman shot just wide and Riki went close, as well as having a penalty appeal turned down.

Fernández made three changes after the break, Edu coming on for his first appearance since recovering from a long injury and almost immediately firing a shot just over the top. And the Brazilian forward started what was to prove the only goal of the game, passing in for Miguel Angel to find Fernando, who slotted the ball wide of Aouate. Verdú fired a late shot over the bar at the other end, but the three points went back to Sevilla, much to the relief of Betis's long suffering fans.
