Atlético Madrid came out best of all the top six from the weekend's games, and they are now back level with fifth placed Zaragoza in the table after beating Deportivo 2-0. Galletti had his name on the scoresheet with less than a minute on the clock after picking up a long ball from Antonio López to beat Dudu Aouate, but after that the action dropped off. Fernando Torres tested Aouate with a couple of efforts before the break, and Leo Franco was called upon to keep out a couple of Sergio free kicks.

Antonio López brushed the bar with a long shot early in the second half, and a cross from Jurado also bounced off the woodwork. And at the other end Leo Franco was in action again to keep out Estoyanoff and Juan Rodríguez. With six minutes to go though Galletti and Gabi combined down the right wing, the former crossing in for Mista to turn the ball past Aouate on the far post. It was all over, and Atlético were back in the running after three games without a win.
