Athletic Bilbao stay down in the bottom three after drawing 1-1 at fellow strugglers Celta, who have not won a league match at home in five months. Both sides got off to a nervous start, the only chance in the first half hour an early header wide by Sarriegui from Yeste's corner. But with ten minutes to go to the break, Angel headed the Galicians into the lead after Baiano headed a long cross back across goal.

Canobbio and Gustavo López both tried their luck either side of half time, and Baiano went close with a shot which took a deflection off Sarriegui. But a quarter of an hour in to the second half the locals were left with ten men after Pablo García got himself sent off for grabbing Amorebieta by the neck after a high tackle by the Basque defender. That allowed the visitors back in to the game, and ten minutes later Aduriz equalised with a glancing header from Yeste's free kick.
