Valencia were unable to make any headway against the leaders after they were held to a 1-1 draw at Osasuna, although they must be thankful for coming away with a point after Morientes headed the equaliser from Miguel's cross with the game already in injury time.

Playing the last game of the weekend, the Chés already knew that the top three had all failed to win. And they started well, Ricardo saving at point blank range from David Villa and Angulo hitting the post. Raúl García brought a good save out of Cañizares though with a speculative shot from way outside of the area, and with ten minutes to go to the break García won his side a penalty which Puñal converted after falling under a challenge from Moretti.

Both keepers were in action after the restart, Ricardo saving from Villa and Joaquín, and Cañizares from David López. Webó had a goal disallowed for a borderline offside, but the Pamplona based side appeared to be on the way to a much needed win when Morientes struck. It was another blow for the locals, who are now only five points above the drop zone after only picking up one point in their last four games.
