Getafe lost ground on the other sides chasing the European spots after losing 2-0 at Mallorca, their sixth game in a row without a win. Bernd Schuster made four changes to his line up, but only a couple of good saves by Pato from Jankovic and then Víctor kept the scores level at the break.

The visitors' first real shot at goal came a few minutes after the restart when Cotelo tested Moyà with a long range effort, but soon afterwards Nunes got on the end of an Ibagaza free kick to send a looping header in off the far post.

Getafe didn't react, and Ibagaza could have increased their lead with a lob and another shot before Trejo came on to carve his way through the defence and poke a shot past the keeper just a minute or so after making his debut. Mallorca's fifth home win in a row virtually ensures their continuity in the top flight, and they ended the weekend just three points behind their opponents.
