Racing Santander and Deportivo played out a 0-0 draw, a result which leaves the Cantabrians in eighth spot and their visitors still five points behind them in eleventh. Despite the result it was a lively match, with plenty of opportunities at either end. Estoyanoff shot wide in the opening minutes and Zigic replied with an effort over the top at the other end. An excellent Munitis had a couple of efforts blocked, but Juan Rodriguez came close to putting the Galicians ahead had Toño not stuck out a knee to stop hos shot, and the midfielder had a goal disallowed close to half time as Riki was offside.

And so it continued into the second half, an effort from Riki deflected on to the bar and Juan Rodríguez's follow up blocked on the line by a defender. Aouate made a reaction save at point blank range from Zigic's header, and Zigic fired another chance into the side netting. And Estoyanoff and De Guzman both wasted chances later on.

In the end though a point apiece, leaving both in with a chance of reaching the European spots by the end of the season. However the locals will be disappointed that once again they were held by their bogey team, who have not lost in the Sardinero stadium for over ten years.
