Getafe moved up to eighth, level with Racing and one point behind Recre, after beating Betis 0-2. It was the Andalusians' last match in exile in the Cartuja stadium, where they have only picked up one point in three games, and they must be itching to get back to the Ruiz de Lopera stadium to try and improve their fortune.

Güiza put the visitors ahead when he latched on to Manu's cross on the quarter hour mark, and Güiza and Cortés both brought good saves out of Contreras soon afterwards. And with just over half an hour gone Casquero put his side two up with a chip over the head of the keeper from outside of the area.

The unhappy home fans gave their side a hard time, although they did their best to come back after the restart. Odonkor fired a long shot over the top and Miguel Angel hit the upright, and Sobis and Isidoro also went close. But there was no way past a well ordered defence, and Betis ended the weekend just five points off the drop zone after eight games without a win.
