Levante beat fellow strugglers Celta 1-2 to move three points clear of them in the table. The locals had the better of the early chances, Nuñez shooting wide, Oubiña having another shot punched clear by Molina and Nené having a strike disallowed for a clear offside. However Reggi got the first for the visitors with a hotly disputed penalty after referee Rubinos Pérez ruled that Tamas had fouled Alvaro, and a more clear penalty by Esteban on Ettien was turned down minutes later.

Oubiña and Tamas both failed to convert chances for Hristo Stoichkov's team either side of half time, and they paid the price when Riga made it two for the visitors with an angled shot after controlling Descarga's cross. Celta got one back through Baiano later on after picking up a pass out of midfield from Nené, but they couldn't prevent a fourth defeat in a row which leaves them in next to bottom spot in the table.
