Racing Santander missed out on a chance to overtake Recreativo and move into seventh spot after they lost 0-2 at home to Mallorca, and the Islanders themselves are now only one point behind them in the table. The Cantabrians were up against early on when Munitis was sent off for an off the ball incident with Ballesteros, although neither side really caused any problems for the opposing keeper in a dull first half.

The action began though just a few minutes after the restart when Fernando Navarro guided a header past Toño after Arango's mis-hit shot bounced up off the ground. Colsa headed a free kick back against the bar at the other end, but soon afterwards Arango ran on to Ibaga's pass to make it two. Serrano and Zigic both did their best to get their side back in the game, but it was not to be and they fell to their first home defeat since early December.
