An entertaining game on Sunday evening between two sides who had already done all their homework this season, with Recreativo running out 2-5 winners at Deportivo. The Andalusians were still keen to jockey for position in the league table, and they over-ran their opponents right from the first minute, when referee Lizondo Cortés disallowed a goal after César Arzo's header appeared to cross the line before Cristian cleared it away following a corner. Just over a quarter of an hour later though they were already two up, Cheli beating Aouate and then setting up Javi Guerrero for a second, and only some first class saves from Aouate prevented a bigger scoreline before the break.

Caparrós was almost certainly making his last appearance in front of the home fans before moving on, and he made two changes early in the second half. But the rout continued, Cazorla scoring two more, the first from a free kick and the second in combination with Sinama-Pongolle, before Bodipo finally got on the end of Pablo alvarez's cross to pull one back for the locals. Sinama-Pongolle made it five though after Aitor set him up, and Juan rodríguez at least made the score look a bit more decent with a late penalty after Verdú was fouled by Arzo inside the area.
