On one of the most exciting ends to a season there was only one match with nothing at stake, Deportivo running out 1-3 winners against Espanyol at the Montjuic stadium. Both sides had already made sure of spots in midtable, and the main point of interest for the home fans was the presentation of a trophy to Tamudo as the club's all time top scorer, the two he got against Barcelona the week before taking him on to 112 in all.

As expected though the game was without much tension, the only real action in the first half the sending off of Andrade with a quarter of an hour on the clock for insulting the referee. Tamudo added to his tally from the penalty spot a couple of minutes after the restart after his ex team mate Lopo tripped him in the area, and it seemed a home win was on the cards.

But Depor spoilt the captain's night, Iago deflecting Cristian's shot past Gorka to equalise and another ex Periquito Sergio beating the keeper with a well placed shot into the top corner just two minutes later. And although Torrejón headed a corner against the bar, Riki rounded things off with another well taken goal to give Caparrós a win in what is expected to be his last game in charge of the Galician side.
