Murcia celebrated their return to the top flight with a 2-1 victory over Zaragoza. The Nueva Condomina stadium was packed to see Mejía open the scoring with a glancing header from Pablo García's long free kick in the seventeenth minute. But Oliveira equalised with a spectacular strike a few minutes later, controlling Gabi's pass and turning to chip a delightful shot into the top corner of the net.

The locals could have restored the lead before the break when César Arzo headed wide, but midway through the second half Pablo García set up Baiano for him to force the ball past the visiting keeper. Soon afterwards Matuzalem was sent off for a rash tackle on Regueiro, and Murcia could have won by a bigger margin had Goitom, Abel and Pignol been able to convert their chances.
