Recreativo Huelva were held to a 1-1 draw by local rivals Betis in their opening game. The home side dominated the early minutes, and Sinama-Pongolle put them in front after good work by Camuñas midway through the first half.

But Sorrentino had to make a couple of important saves after that, in particular pushing one effort against the crossbar, referee Pérez Burrull turning away claims from the visitors that the ball had crossed the line.

A couple of minutes later Nano got on the end of Caffa's corner to head home the equaliser for Héctor Cúper's side, and that neither team particularly troubled the two goalkeepers.
