The points were shared at the Romareda stadium, where Zaragoza and Racing Santander drew 1-1. The locals started well and Oliveira rattled the crossbar early on, and Diego Milito also forced a couple of good saves out of Toño.

The Cantabrians had had their chances as well though, and they took the lead ten minutes after the restart when Oscar Serrano volleyed the ball back past César after a corner was headed into his path.

Marcelino took off his front man to strengthen midfield, but Milito tested Toño again a couple of times before Oliveira equalised, turning the ball in from close range after Ayala's header was blocked by Jorge López following a corner.
