After their win at Espanyol on the opening day, Valladolid came close to a second victory before drawing 2-2 with Deportivo. The game got off to a slow start, a chip from Llorente the only chance until García Calvo put the home side ahead from Kome's corner on the stroke of half time.

Taborda levelled the scores with a header from Manuel Pablo's cross early in the second half, but Sisi restored the lead with a well taken goal, poking the ball past Aouate after good work down the wing by Llorente. Lotina brought on Riki, a decision which paid off almost immediately when the forward equalised with a fluke shot from Riki ten minutes from the end. Deportivo had their first point on the board, but the new coach still has some work to do if his side is to return to Europe this year.
