Sevilla are up to second spot with one game in hand after beating Recreativo 4-1. It was an emotive night, the first in the Sánchez Pizjuán stadium since the death of Antonio Puerta, and the game was stopped for a minute's silence in the sixteenth minute, the number Puerta wore on his shirt.

The locals dominated the game right from the start however, Kerzhakov opening the scoring early on after Sorrentino blocked a shot from Navas, and Keita heading against the bar. And the chances continued before Kanouté added a second after Alves set him up shortly before the break.

Kanouté got his second of the night soon after the restart, getting ahead of the defence to turn a long ball from Alves past the keeper, but just a minute later Aitor got one back with a spectacular volley from Varela's cross.

Kerzhakov missed a penalty soon afterwards after Cáceres brought down Kone, but the Russian striker made up for it with his second of the night a few minutes later. The visitors ended with ten men after Edu Moya was sent off near the end, and they have yet to win a game this season.
