Goals:
1-0. 07. Guardado. Ran in to turn ball past Ricardo following long throw.

Deportivo picked up their first win of the season, a strike from Guardado giving them a 1-0 victory over Betis. The Mexican midfielder latched on to a long throw to volley a shot past Ricardo in only the sixth minute, paying back the first instalment on his big transfer fee.

Riki could have added to the scoreline when his header was saved by Ricardo before the break, but Aouate had to be at his best to keep out Sobis after the restart. Guardado was Depor's star though, setting up Verdú for him to hit the post, and then going close himself later on. The result was a relief for Lotina, but Cúper has some work to do to keep Betis out of trouble this season.
