Goals:
1-0. 87. Jonathan. Connected with Riera cross to slide ball past Pato on far post.

A goal by substitute Jonathan Soriano two minutes from the end of the match gave Espanyol a 1-0 win over Getafe. The visitors had the better of the first half, Kameni having to save a couple of efforts from Pablo Hernández and others from Casquero and De la Red.

The home team's first real chance was a Luis García free kick which rattled the crossbar after the restart, but Michael Laudrup's side were left with ten men when substitute Granero was shown a direct red card for a hard tackle on the Spanish international striker just six minutes after coming on to make his debut for his new club.

Even so it looked as if the game was heading for a draw before Riera took advantage of a bad clearance to set up Jonathan, who's shot came off the far post into the net. It was Espanyol's first win of the season, and the result left their opponents down in the relegation zone.
