Recreativo recorded their first win of the season after coming from behind to beat Espanyol 2-1. Riera put the Catalans ahead in the sixth minute when he latched on to Luis García's short free kick to fire a bouncing shot past Sorrentino, and the winger almost got a second with another effort close to half time wich was deflected wide.

However Javi Guerrero scored twice in five minutes early in the second half to turn things around, the first an impressive tight angled volley after lifting the ball past Torrejón and Jarque from the goal line, and the second after intercepting a bad back pass from Clemente to chip a shot over Kameni. Even so Espanyol could have saved a point had Sorrentino not kept out strikes from Moisés Hurtado and Tamudo later on.
