Murcia moved up to eighth in the table after a 1-4 victory at Valladolid, who played for over an hour with nine men after having two players sent off by referee Ayza Gámez. It was fitting revenge for Lucas alcaraz's side, who were beaten by the same score when both sides were in the second division last season.

It was a rainy day in the centre of Spain, and the drenched local fans had little to cheer about when Cifuentes got his marching orders for a second bookable offence midway through the first half. De Lucas turned in Iván Alonso's cross to put the visitors ahead five minutes later, and within two minutes Butelle followed Cifuentes down the tunnel after bringing down Richi as he advanced on goal.

Despite the numerical inferiority, Valladolid got back in the game when Llorente got on the end of an Oscar Sánchez cross to head past Notario. But in the end they couldn't hold out, Baiano restoring the lead after Abel set him up, Iván Alonso getting a third from a well struck free kick, and Abel wrapping things up with with the best goal of the night late on.
