Atlético Madrid are up to fifth in the table, just a point now behind Villarreal and Valencia, after a 0-1 win at bottom club Levante. De Biasi was in charge of the home side for the first time in the Ciudad de Valencia stadium after taking over from Abel Resino a couple of weeks ago. And although they had only scored three all season, they were on top for the first quarter of the match, Descarga unlucky to have a penalty appeal turned down and Rigano being pulled up for a dubious offside when free in front of goal.

Pretty soon they paid the price for their misses though, Agüero chesting Zé Castro's long ball into the path of Diego Forlán for him to fire a shot past Storari. Riga hit the upright at the other end a minute later, then was booked for diving in the area and had another effort blocked by Leo Franco either side of half time. But that was about it, and only a couple of good saves by Storari from Agüero stopped the scoreline from getting any bigger. Levante had lost again, and they are setting new records having only picked up one point in nine games.
