Mallorca and Espanyol are battling for the European spots this season, and honours were shared as the two teams drew 2-2 on Saturday evening. Arango put the Balearic Islanders ahead in the second minute with a spectacular volley from Ibagaza's quickly taken free kick, but then headed into his own net from Luis García's free kick midway through the first half.

The locals were left with ten men when Ballesteros was sent off for bringing down Tamudo in the area a few minutes later, Tamudo himself converting the spot kick to give the visitors the lead. And the Catalans could have extended their lead when Nunes brought down Luis García in the area, which the referee missed.

Numbers were evened up though when Clemente picked up a second booking early in the second half, and Valverde pulled off Tamudo to try and defend the lead. Arango hit the post though, and Güiza levelled the scores, picking up a long ball from Fernando Navarro andturning to beat the keeper. Riera and Arango both had chances after that, but in the end they settled for a point which left them in the two UEFA cup spots pending Sunday's games.
