Atlético Madrid moved up to fourth in the table after a thrilling 4-3 win over Sevilla. Maniche started things off in the second minute, firing the ball past Palop after the keeper had blocked Forlán's shot. And although Luis Fabiano equalised quickly with a low free kick which took a deflection off the defensive wall, Agüero restored the lead with a header after Palop pushed a shot from Luis García on to the bar two minutes later.

Jesús Navas went close as the visitors tried to get back again, and with the first half coming to a close they did draw level when Zé Castro put through his own net trying to clear a long Daniel Alvés cross.

Maxi put Aguirre's side in front for the third time with an acrobatic goal midway through the second half, and Jurado appeared to have wrapped things up in the ninetieth minute when he got on the end of Simao's cross to steer a shot into the far corner of the net. However it was still not over, and Luis Fabiano scored again a minute afterwards to set up a nail-biting finish.
