Mallorca hold on to eighth spot after a valiant 1-1 draw at Deportivo, the Balearic Islanders playing all the second half with ten men. Gregorio Manzano's side took the lead through Güiza after Dudu Aouate could only turn Varela's shot on to the bar in the eleventh minute, and Borja Valero almost added a second with a shot wide soon afterwards. But after that it was all Depor, Moyà saving from Verdú and Coloccini and Bodipo just missing the target.

Mallorca were left with ten men when Moyà brought down Bodipo in the area close to half time. Guardado converted the resulting spot kick. But the visitors held on after that for a point, second choice keeper Lux coming on to make saves from Verdú, Bodipo and Guardado either side of half time, and substitute Rubén Castro also testing the keeper and then having a late strike ruled out for offside. Depor drop down the table to sixteenth, now only one point above the drop zone, having only won once in the Riazor stadium all season.
