A thrilling match at the Santiago Bernabeu, where leaders Real Madrid came from behind to beat Mallorca 4-3. Robinho gave Bernd Schuster's side the lead in the eleventh minute with a move which he started, sending a looping header past Lux from Marcelo's cross. The left back was at fault though two minutes later when he allowed Varela to pick up Ibagaza's long pass to equalise, but just three minutes after that Robinho got his second of the night after Raúl played on Sneijder's pass, a defender deflecting the ball into the path of the Brazilian.

Mallorca came back though, Nunes turning a corner against the bar before Varela picked up the ball in midfield and caught out Casillas with a spectacular shot from outside of the area. And early in the second half Güiza celebrated his call up for the Spanish squad by putting the Islanders ahead after Diarra cut out Arango's pass, only to leave the ball at the feet of the striker.

Robinho was not to be denied however, and he appeared again to set up Raúl for the equaliser a few minutes later. And with a quarter of an hour to go Van Nistelrooy latched on to Raúl's pass to force a shot past Lux and in off the far post. Raúl and Heinze could have increased the lead later on, but Madrid had done enough to extend their winning run in the Bernabeu stadium to thirteen games.
