Barcelona kicked off week twelve knowing that a win at Getafe would take them above Real Madrid pending their game on Sunday. However they lost 2-0 to the side who knocked them out of the cup six months ago, continuing their poor form away from home which has seen them pick up only six points out of a possible 18. The early chances fell to the locals, Pablo firing a long shot wide and Valdés saving from Uche. Pato tipped an effort from Henry round the post and Milito headed just over from the resulting corner, but soon afterwards Manu put the home side ahead after Cata Díaz headed back Licht's free kick.

Frank Rijkaard's side hardly troubled Pato after the break, and Uche could have added to the lead with a couple of efforts just wide of the target later on Touré was lucky to be let off a penalty appeal when the ball hit his hand inside the area, and Barça were left with ten men when half time substitute Zambrotta picked up a second booking. And five minutes later it was all over when Albín picked up a cross from Uche and fired a shot back across Valdés. Getafe move safely up to mid-table, and Rijkaard has to turn things around if he wants to be eating his turkey in Barcelona this Christmas.
