Bottom club Levante sank further behind the rest after a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Getafe. The game got off to a lively start, with Abbondanzieri having to save from Riga and Geijo in the first two minutes, and Casquero, Albín and Mario all missing the target at the other end.

With a quarter of an hour on the clock Riga gave the visitors the lead after Abbondanzieri could only parry his penalty kick back into his path, but a few minutes later the match was temporarily halted after Descarga was left unconscious following a clash of heads with De la Red. Referee Iturralde González offered to abandon, but when it became clear that the injury was not life threatening, play went on.

Levante were unsettled by the incident though, and although Geijo went close a couple of times either side of half time, Getafe wrestled back control. Manu del Moral hit the inside of the post with a long shot, and soon afterwards Braulio got on the end of Pablo's cross to equalise.

Pablo had an effort saved by Storari and Manu missed a sitter, but just when it appeared that a draw was inevitable, Braulio got on the end of De la Red's cross to head the winner for Michael Laudrup's team. Another blow for the visitors, but they were more preoccupied about the news from the hospital - it was good: Descarga was safe and was on his way to recovery.
