Zaragoza are not having the best of seasons, and coach Víctor Fernández is already being seriously questioned after his side lost 2-1 to Recreativo. Diego Milito put the visitors ahead in the twentieth minute after picking up a pass from Aimar. But the lead was only brief, Martins equalising with a long shot inside the near post just five minutes later.

Aimar headed over and Luccin shot wide as Zaragoza tried to get back the lead, but five minutes before the break Juanfran blocked Sinama-Pongolle's shot with his hands, and the locals were given a penalty. César saved Martins' shot, but the ball dropped to Camuñas who turned it back across goal for Martins to score from close range.

After that Recre sat back to defend, and Aimar fired a long shot wide and had another effort saved by Sorrentino. Zapater and Milito also tried their luck to no avail, and the home side could have won it by a bigger margin after substitute Congo hit the post. The pressure was off Víctor Muñoz, but now it was on his namesake on the opposite bench instead.
