Villarreal drop to fourth after they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Recreativo. The locals could have taken the lead early on when Bouzón turned Cazorla's cross against his own crossbar, and visiting keeper Sorrentino made a couple of good saves from Guille Franco and Pires. But Martins brought a good save out of Diego López at the other end, and soon afterwards Camuñas opened the scoring for the Andalusians after Sinama-Pongolle turned the ball back across goal.

It only took Villarreal a minute to equalise though, Nihat picking up a pass from Cazorla to fire a shot on the turn past Sorrentino. Close to half time the Turkish striker hit the bar with a free kick, and Cygan also hit the post with a header from a corner in the second half. But Sorrentino and his defence held fast, and shortly after Capdevila had a goal disallowed for a borderline offside it was all over. "El Decano" had picked up another useful point on the day the league's oldest club celebrated its 118th birthday.
