Down at the bottom of the table, Deportivo moved to within a point of safety after a late 0-1 victory at bottom club Levante. If anything the locals had the better chances in a dull first half, Riganò and Juanma both failing to hit the target. Rubén Castro was late replacement for Xisco, who was suffering from fever, and he fired a shot way over the top before the break.

Things appeared to liven up after the restart, with Viqueira in particular bringing a good save out of Munúa and Riga also testing the keeper, and Cristian shooting over the bar in the first five minutes. But once again the pace slowed, and the game seemed to be heading for a scoreless draw before José Serrano cut out a cross with his hand inside the area. Sergio drove home the resulting penalty to take the three points, leaving the locals in a desperate situation with only seven points to their name with the season almost halfway through.
