Murcia stay just a point clear of the bottom three after drawing 1-1 at Athletic Bilbao in the last match of the year, a result which leaves the Basque side with only one home win to their name all season. Llorente headed a Gabilondo cross against the post in the opening minutes when it would have been easier to score, but on the stroke of half time the locals were awarded a penalty after Movilla handled in the area. Notario saved Orbaiz's spot kick, but Koikili scored on the follow up.

However the visitors came back after the restart, Baiano equalising from a second penalty soon after the restart after Abel was fouled by Aitor Ocio, and Abel hitting the bar with a long shot soon afterwards. Aranzubia saved from Baiano and Ochoa headed a corner just wide, and Abel, Regueiro and Baiano all went close late on. The locals were left with ten men when Aitor Ocio was sent off for a second bookable offence, but they held on for a point which keeps them just ahead of their opponents on goal average.
