Valladolid ended the first half of the season in ninth spot in the table after beating Recreativo 3-1. Young keeper Sergio Asenjo had to keep out Sinama-Pongolle in the opening minutes, but soon afterwards Llorente put the locals ahead after Víctor set him up. A quarter of an hour later the striker got his second of the night, picking up a long pass on a quick breakaway to shoot wide of Sorrentino again. And it could have been more had Víctor and García Calvo been able to convert chances later in the first half.

Camuñas got one back for the visitors on the stroke of half time, taking advantage of a misunderstanding between Marcos and his keeper. But a minute after the restart Llorente hit the post with a long shot, and Oscar Sánchez and Alvaro Rubio both went close. Llorente was not to be denied his hat-trick however, which he completed near the end after running on to a long clearance from Asenjo and firing a first time shot past the visiting keeper.
