Zaragoza coach Víctor Fernández was given the chop today soon after his side were held to a 2-2 draw by Mallorca, their ninth game in a row without a win. The club are expected to name Víctor's replacement tomorrow, although a caretaker may be in charge for the midweek cup tie at Santander.

Arango fired a free kick over the bar before Varela opened the scoring from a Jonás Gutiérrez cross. But two headed goals from Diego Milito turned the scoreline around before the interval, the first coming from Sergio García's cross and the second from Diogo's.

Lux did well to keep out Oliveira and Sergio García after the restart, but Güiza came on to level the scores once again following an Ibagaza free kick. After that Mallorca were on top, with Güiza and Víctor in particular trying their luck. But in the end they had to make do with a point, extending their own run without a win to six games.
