Getafe finally got their revenge for their cup final defeat, beating Sevilla 3-2 to move up to within two points of their opponents in the table. Top scorer Luis Fabiano headed the Andalusians into the lead after Pato Abbondanzieri could only push out a fierce free kick from Daniel Alves, but after that the locals took over, with Granero and Licht both hitting the woodwork before Casquero equalised with a "house special"

The pressure continued, Granero bringing a good save out of De Sanctis with a header close to half time, and Casquero testing the keeper again after the restart. Diego Capel could have restored the lead for the visitors, but with just under an hour on the clock Albín stole in ahead of a sleepy Dragutinovic to head Palo's centre past the keeper and put the locals in front.

Manolo Jiménez reacted by taking off a defender to bring on a third striker Chevantón, who almost caught out Pato with an angled shot. And with two minutes to go Dragutinovic appeared to have saved a point when he headed home Chevantón's corner to equalise once again. However with the game in injury time Contra got on the end of Gavilán's free kick to steer a header past De Sanctis for the winning goal.
