Espanyol drop out of the Champions League spots after losing 2-1 at Valladolid. Llorente ran on to Víctor's pass straight from the kick off to open the scoring, the goal timed at under eight seconds which, if confirmed, will be the fastest ever in the history of La Liga. And half an hour later the on-form striker got his second of the night and his sixth in just over a week, Víctor once again setting him up after pulling down a long pass from Marcos.

Lafuente prevented Capdevila from getting a third a few minutes later, but early in the second half the keeper went off injured, and with Kameni away on international duty Casilla took over in goal. Valdo had a couple of chances either side of half time, and Sergio Asenjo saved a header from Tamudo before Torrejón headed one back from a Luis García free kick. But Asenjo and his defence held fast after that, with Marcos clearing off the line from Valdo when the keeper was beaten.
