Atlético Madrid were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw by Murcia, and they drop down the table to fifth after their third game in a row without a win. Javier Aguirre's side were on top throughout the first half but couldn't find the net, Diego Forlán having a goal disallowed for offside, Forlán and Agüero shooting wide and Notario saving from Maxi and Pernía.

Goitom fired a long shot against the post though shortly before half time, and six minutes after the restart Jofre put the visitors ahead from the penalty spot after Eller fouled Iván Alonso. Luis García equalised for the hosts soon afterwards, picking up a long ball and running on to fire an angled shot wide of Notario, but they could do no more, especially after Agüero was carried off after De Coz accidentally stepped on his heel.
