Osasuna won by a single goal against Zaragoza in a match which began with a protest by local fans against some poor refereeing decisions in recent weeks. The result kept the Pamplona based side out of the relegation spots, and handed a first defeat to new coach Javier Irureta on the day he set a new record of 609 games as manager of a first division side.

The visitors would gone ahead in the first half though had it not been for Ricardo, the keeper saving from Oliveira and Diego Milito. But with the first half coming to a close Plasil picked up a long pass and fired in a shot which took a slight deflection off Ayala to wrong foot César.

Osasuna could have added to their lead after the restart, with César saving from Dady and then cutting out a dangerous cross from Vela. And with two minutes to go substitute Deporte hit the post with the keeper beaten. Plasil's goal was enough though, and the locals took another step towards safety.
