Villarreal are up to third in the table pending Sunday's matches after a last minute 0-1 victory against Murcia. Pellegrini's side were lucky not to be behind earlier on though, Jofre bringing a good save out of Diego López and Iván Alonso and Goitom going close a couple of times before the break.

The match continued in the same vein after the restart, with Goitom having a shot cleared and a penalty appeal turned down, and the visitors only replying with a weak effort from Guille Franco. But with the game in the third minute of injury time Franco picked up a lofted pass from Josico to force the ball past Notario, the referee waving away claims by the local players for offside. The defeat leaves Murcia further down in the bottom three.
