Deportivo stay in the relegation spots after losing 3-2 to Recreativo, the team who started the weekend just a place above them in the table. Lotina's side were desperate for a victory, and they got some help from referee Alvarez Izquierdo, who awarded them an early penalty after Verdú's free kick hit Sinama-Pongolle on the arm in the defensive wall. Verdú converted the kick, and Alvarez turned down a couple of possible penalties at the other end later in the first half for similar incidents involving Manuel Pablo and Lopo.

Camuñas headed a good chance wide shortly before the break, but seven minutes in to the second half Recre were level after Beto headed a Martins free kick past Fabricio. The Portuguese defender was shown a second yellow card for taking off his shirt in celebration, but even with a man short the locals went in front a few minutes later, Sinama-Pongolle latching on to a loose ball outside the area to fire a first time shot into the top corner of the net.

Depor came close to equalising when Sorrentino saved from Riki's header and De Guzman turned the rebound against the bar, and with ten minutes to go Riki did level the scores, getting on the end of Manuel Pablo's cross to whip the ball past the keeper. But with a draw on the cards Martín Cáceres got above Coloccini to head another long Martins free kick down past the keeper, and Recre had the three points. The Galicians are now two points away from safety, although only five points separate them from tenth placed Zaragoza.
