Villarreal consolidated third spot in the table, moving three points clear of Atlético Madrid after drawing 0-0 against Osasuna. The locals had not won at home in four matches in all competitions, and the visitors had not picked up an away point in five, so something had to give. There were chances for both sides early on, Juanfran firing a shot wide across goal and Nihat and Capdevila replied with efforts just wide of the mark at the other end. And shortly before half time Osasuna almost scored when Kike Sola's shot was deflected by a defender, Diego López and Eguren managing to keep the ball from going over the line with Josetxo closing in.

The visitors had clearly decided that a point was enough though, and López was a mere spectator in the second half. Villarreal could have won it with a bit more luck, Guille Franco in particular volleying wide from Cazorla's cross and then having another shot well saved by Ricardo. Juanfran did get the ball in the net at the other end late on, but play had already been pulled up for a previous foul. The game ended soon afterwards though, and Osasuna had the draw they wanted to inch further away from the drop zone.
