Sevilla moved above Espanyol to sixth after a 2-1 win over bottom club Levante, putting behind them their midweek elimination from the Champions League. They made hard work of it though, Riga putting the Valencia based side ahead in the fourth minute after catching Palop off his line with a long shot. At that point there were some murmurings from the crowd, but Kanouté and Keita both forced good saves out of Kujovic before Keita headed the equaliser from a Jesús Navas cross.

Kanouté and Capel both went close again before the break, and just two minutes after the interval Luis Fabiano got on the end of another Navas cross to stab the ball past the keeper and give the Andalusians the lead. Kujovic did well after that to keep out Navas and Luis Fabiano, but Riga and Miguel Angel both gave the home fans a fright before the final whistle. By then though visiting coach Di Biasi was in the stands having been shown a red card for protesting.
