Betis forgot their off the pitch troubles and moved away from the danger zone with a 0-1 victory at Osasuna, who are now one point behind them in the table. The Pamplona based side had won their last four home games, and they dominated the opening minutes, Delporte shooting wide and Monreal hitting the bar with a free kick. Javi García almost turned in Puñal's free kick and then had another effort saved by Casto, and Portillo (who came on for the injured Delporte) had a goal disallowed for a close offside.

Closer to half time Betis did start to test Ricardo though, the keeper saving from Pavone and Edu, but he could do nothing when Mark González drove home a long shot following a set-piece free kick a few minutes in to the second half. Osasuna pushed forward, Plasil heading wide, Portillo having a penalty appeal turned down and Casto saving well from Kike Sola. But with time running out the locals were left with ten men after Javi García was sent off for elbowing González, and the visitors held on for a vital win.
