Deportivo beat Athletic Bilbao 3-0 to move level with the Basque side in the table. The Galicians have the best record in the league for the second half of the season, and they overran their opponents before a heading move between the three centre backs ended with Coloccini opening the scoring on the half hour mark.

Caparrós was returning to his old hunting ground, but his side didn't cause any problems for Aouate until early in the second half, when the keeper had to save from David López and Iraola. However a few minutes later Sergio made it two from the penalty spot after Riki was barged over by Amorebieta, and Xisco and Filipe both hit the woodwork before Filipe wrapped things up late on.
