On-form Deportivo beat Osasuna 0-1 to record their fourth victory in a row, a result which takes them to within five points of the UEFA Cup spots. After three home defeats in succession the locals needed points themselves, but their luck was out, Astudillo in particular having an effort cleared off the line by Sergio before the break, and hitting the outside of the post soon after the restart.

Up to that point Depor had only come close to scoring with a couple of headers from Filipe and Taborda. But with just over an hour gone, referee Ramírez Domínguez ruled that Cruchaga had tripped Filipe inside the area, and Sergio stepped up to convert the kick. Osasuna themselves had a couple of penalty appeals turned down later on, but it was another home defeat, and they are now only three points above the drop zone.
