Racing Santander stay in fifth spot despite a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Mallorca, and with Atlético Madrid only drawing they are still only two points off the Champions League spots.

Both sides had chances in the first half, although all the goals came after the break, Nunes heading the first from a wide Borja Valero free kick. Trejo took advantage of a poor back pass by Colsa to run on and slide a shot past Toño with eight minutes to go, but three minutes later the Cantabrians got back in the game when Duscher converted a penalty after Tchité was bundled over by David Navarro in the area.

However Güiza put the game out of the visitors' reach, running on to a Jonás Gutiérrez through ball to beat the keeper and clock up his 22nd of the season in the league, taking him within one of Luis Fabiano in the race for this season's Pichichi. Mallorca are now safe, and with little else to play for they can now take it easy for the remaining games of the season.
