Espanyol's season has gone dramatically downhill since the midway point of the season, but despite seven games without a win they still have a chance of making it into Europe through the back door of the Intertoto Cup after a 1-1 draw against bottom club Levante. Card-happy referee Rubinos Pérez sent off Berson and Torrejón for second bookable offences either side of half time, and both keepers had some work to do before Juanma ran through to open the scoring with fifteen minutes to go. But Luis García saved a point for the locals with a last minute penalty after Alvaro was also red-carded for bringing down the forward in the area.
