Barcelona bounced back from their midweek Champions League defeat against Manchester United to thrash Valencia 6-0, although the result came too late to save another poor season. There were protests from the fans against the directors' box before the match, but within a quarter of an hour the Catalans were three up, Messi winning and converting a penalty and Xavi and Henry adding two more.

The pressure continued, Henry and Messi bringing good saves out of Hildebrand, Eto'o hitting the side netting and Messi heading a good chance wide. Henry tested Hildebrand again after the restart, and with just under an hour gone the ex Arsenal striker got his second of the night after Messi set him up. The visitors finally gave Valdés something to do when the keeper tipped a long shot from Joaquín over the top, but substitute Bojan chipped in with a brace as well to complete the rout. Valencia ended the weekend back in the danger zone, just two points above the bottom three.
