Bottom club Levante put up a good fight with a much depleted side before losing late on to Deportivo. The Valencia based club are in serious financial difficulties, and the players protested about the lack of wages at the start by standing still at the kick off, Sergio sportingly kicking the ball out for a goal kick rather than scoring in to an empty net.

After that though the Galicians dominated the match, with young keeper Reina having to save from Bodipo, Wilhelmsson and Filipe Luis. Riga headed wide at the other end and Aouate kept out a shot from Gaspar as the visitors held their own. But with three minutes remaining Valerón sent Manuel Pablo away down the wing, and the full back crossed in for Riki to beat the keeper with a clever flick. The victory keeps the Galicians on track for a place in the Intertoto Cup.
