Recreativo and Valladolid live to fight another day after a 1-1 draw in the last match of the season. In the end Zaragoza's defeat in Mallorca meant that both were safe, although for a few minutes in the second half the home side were in the relegation spots after the Maños equalised in the San Moix stadium.

Both keepers were in action early on, Sergio Asenjo saving from Gerard and Sinama-Pongolle, and Sorrentino tipping a wide free kick from Oscar Sánchez over the bar. Five minutes before the break though Llorente got on the end of a long cross to steer an angled header in to the net, and the locals were in trouble.

Sinama-Pongolle went close a couple of times after the restart, but the French striker injured himself and had to limp off. Zambrano threw on reinforcements, but Asenjo was in top form, keeping out efforts from Ersen Martin and Camuñas as the Andalusians pressed forward with increasing desperation.

News reached the ground though that Zaragoza were losing by one and then two goals, and that Osasuna were also losing, and the fans started to relax. And with the game in injury time Javi Guerrero poked the ball past the keeper after Camuñas played on Martin's cross to make sure that Recre stay up. Sighs of relief all round, and both teams will have another season at least in the top flight.
