Valencia hold on to top spot after a 4-2 win over Deportivo on Sunday evening. The visitors had not scored in four matches, but they took the lead when Moretti deflected Pablo Alvarez's cross past his own keeper in the eleventh minute. After that though they hardly approached Renan, and after Joaquín and Mata went close, Mata headed the equaliser from Joaquín's cross.

Four minutes after the restart Valencia went ahead, David Villa picking up a pass from Mata wide on the left and cutting in to fire a shot which Aranzubia could only deflect in to his own net. Mata was in action again a few minutes later, taking a pass from Villa and squaring for Joaquín to make it three, and Joaquín and Vicente both came close before Mata once again set up a fourth goal for Villa. Lafita got another one back near the end with defenders waiting in vain for an offside whistle, but it was mere consolation.
